Defending Champions Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation narrowly escapes defeat as the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2023 continues.

The Defending Champions Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group today defeated the University of Guyana Student Society (UGSS) Turkeyen Campus Youth Group in round one, match six, during the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2023.
The moot for this debate was, “Guyana should continue to use fossil fuels for its economic development.”
Both groups, during this virtual matchup, demonstrated their uncanny capability to articulate their well-reasoned positions on the moot.
Ms. Nareema Alli of the winning Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group captivated the attention of the Judges to win the Best Debater award for this matchup.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Golden Om Dharmic Youth Organisation Youth Group, 193 (Average), and 190 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the University of Guyana Student Society (UGSS) Turkeyen Campus Youth Group.
As the competition progresses, round two promises further skillful encounters from the debating groups.
To date, the Leguan Progressive Youth Organisation, the Guyana Kindness Movement, the Stewartville New Horizon Master Guide and Pathfinder Club, the Youth Arise Youth Group, and the Young Influencers Youth Group have qualified for the second round of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2023.
