Exciting Matchups expected for First Round of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2023

[Georgetown] – The Parliament of Guyana, committed to promoting youth empowerment and critical thinking skills, is thrilled to announce the first round of the prestigious Speaker's National Youth Debating Competition 2023. The competition, aimed at nurturing young debaters and honing their public speaking abilities, will see the participation of 16 exceptionally talented Youth Groups from across the country.
The first round of the competition will commence at 9:30 a.m., tomorrow, June 27, 2023, with five blistering matchups.
The judging panel for the first round will comprise of distinguished experts from academia, public speaking, and debate, ensuring a fair and impartial evaluation process. The judges will evaluate participants based on their content, logical reasoning, delivery style, and ability to engage with the audience effectively.
The Speaker's National Youth Debating Competition was designed to provide a platform for young minds to engage in rigorous intellectual discourse, develop effective argumentation techniques, and enhance their communication skills. The competition aims to empower youths with the ability to think critically, and to articulate their thoughts persuasively.
Qualifying Youth Groups from the first round will advance to the subsequent rounds of the competition, where they will face even greater challenges and opportunities to further refine their debating skills. These teams will also qualify for the Annual Youth Parliament where each participant will have the opportunity to demonstrate their exceptional talent.
The Speaker's National Youth Debating Competition is part of an ongoing commitment to empower young individuals, foster their intellectual development, and to act as a feeder to the Annual Youth Parliament. By nurturing their public speaking abilities, critical thinking skills, and confidence, we aim to equip them with the tools necessary to become effective communicators and leaders in their respective fields.
