Future Diplomats Youth Group Secures Final Spot in the Quarterfinals of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024

In an exhilarating display of knowledge, critical thinking, and public speaking skills, the Future Diplomats Youth Group emerged victorious against the Aishalton Secondary School Youth Group in match 8, round one of the speaker's National Youth Debating Competition 2024.
The Youth Group’s stellar performance secured them the final spot in the quarter-finals of the competition, catapulting their team to familiar heights.
The moot for this debate was, “International Law is sufficient to safeguard states from armed conflict.”
Ms. Beyonce Roberts of the winning Future Diplomats Youth Group copped the Best Debater award for this matchup.
The combined average scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Aishalton Secondary School Youth Group, 185.9 points, and 213 points for the Opposing side, the Future Diplomats Youth Group.
This year's Competition has seen intense debates on a range of topics, providing a platform for young minds to voice their opinions and engage in meaningful discourse.
The quarter-finals of the Speaker's National Youth Debating Competition are scheduled to take place from May 28 - 31, 2024. The eight formidable teams vying for a place in the semi-finals are as follows:
- The University of Guyana Berbice Campus Orators’ Mastery SocietyYouth Group
- Joshua Generation Youth Ministry Youth Group
- Bygeval Secondary School Youth Group
- The Oasis of Optimism Youth Group
- The Child Rights Ambassador Youth Group
- The Helpful Hands Youth Group
- The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Guyana Youth Group
- Future Diplomats Youth Group
These eight teams have also qualified for the 9th Annual Youth Parliament.
Undoubtedly, the stage is set for a fierce battle of wits and intellect as these talented debaters continue their quest for victory and recognition in this prestigious national Competition.
