Helpful Hands Youth Group Youth Group advances as the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024 continues

The Youth Group today defeated the J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School Orators Youth Group in round one, match six, during the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024.
The moot for this debate was, “Diversifying the economy beyond oil is not critical for sustainable development in Guyana.”
Both groups, during this in-person matchup, demonstrated their uncanny capability to articulate their well-reasoned positions on the moot. However, it was the Helpful Hands Youth Group that asserted their dominance.
Mr. Nygil Drepaul of the winning Helpful Hands Youth Group captivated the attention of the Judges to win the Best Debater award for this matchup.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School Orators Youth Group, 172 (Average), and 199 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the Helpful Hands Youth Group
To date, the University of Guyana Berbice Campus Orators’ Mastery Society Youth Group, Joshua Generation Youth Ministry Youth Group, Bygeval Secondary School Youth Group, and the Oasis of Optimism Youth Group have qualified for the second round of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024.
