Speaker Convenes 1st Meeting of Committee of Selection

Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Manzoor Nadir, M.P., today, announced the convening of the Committee of Selection.
The Committee, chaired by the Speaker of the House, comprises of five members from the Government benches and four from the Opposition.
The Members are:
Government Members
- Hon. Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark A. Philips, M.S.S., M.P., Prime Minister
- Hon. Gail Teixeira, M.P., Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance
- Hon. Zulfikar Mustapha, M.P., Minister of Agriculture
- Hon. Pauline R.A. Campbell-Sukhai, M.P., Minister of Amerindian Affairs
- Hon. Nigel D. Dharamlall, M.P., Minister of Local Government and Regional Development
Opposition Members
- Mr. Raphael G.C. Trotman, M.P.
- Ms. Annette N. Ferguson, M.P.
- Ms. Amanza O.R. Walton-Desir, M.P.

The purpose of the meeting was to nominate Members to the following Committees of the National Assembly:
- Business Sub-Committee of the Committee of Supply
- Parliamentary Management Committee
- Public Accounts Committee
- Constitution Reform Committee
- Committee on Appointments
- Parliamentary Oversight Committee on the Security Sector
- Parliamentary Sectoral Committee on Economic Services
- Parliamentary Sectoral Committee on Social Services
- Parliamentary Sectoral Committee on Foreign Relations
- Parliamentary Sectoral Committee on Natural Resources
- Standing Orders Committee
- Assembly Committee
- Committee of Privileges; and
- Statutory Instrument Committee
The announcement was made during the 3rd Sitting of the National Assembly of the Twelfth Parliament, held in the Dome of the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC).
Nominations for the following Committees were deferred to tomorrow, 15th September, 2020:
