The Joshua Generation Youth Ministry Youth Group claims victory in round one, match two of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024

It was a thrilling matchup between the winning Joshua Generation Youth Ministry Youth Group and the Port Kaituma Youth Group in round one, match two, during the 11 a.m. session of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2024.
Ms. Jamicia Mc Calman-Nelson of the Joshua Generation Youth Ministry Youth Group copped the award for the Best Debater for this matchup.
The moot for this debate was, “Guyana’s energy policy should prioritise rapid development over a transition to renewable energy.”
It was established from the beginning of the debate that Joshua Generation Youth Ministry meant business. The debaters showcased the finest rhetorical skills, critical thinking, and persuasive prowess of talent as they vied for their chance to enter the second round of the competition.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Port Kaituma Youth Group, 175 (Average), and 214 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the Joshua Generation Youth Ministry Youth Group.
The winner of this matchup, the Joshua Generation Youth Ministry Youth Group, qualified for the second round of this competition and the 9th Annual Youth Parliament.
