The excitement is building as the finals of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024 are set to take place tomorrow. This year, the Child Rights Ambassadors Youth Group will face off against the Helpful Hands Youth Group in what promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking debate. The event will be held at 2 p.m. in the Chamber of the Public Buildings (Parliament Building) on Brickdam, Georgetown.
The moot for this highly anticipated final debate is: “Prioritising infrastructure development in Guyana is essential for fostering regional growth and connectivity.” This topic is of great relevance and importance, reflecting the ongoing discussions about the country's development and future.
Last year, it was the Young Influencers Programme Youth Group that emerged victorious in this esteemed competition. This year’s finalists have demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, making it to the final stage of the competition after intense rounds of debating.
In addition to the excitement of the finals, all qualifying teams from the rounds of the Speaker’s National Youth Debating Competition 2024 have earned their places in the 9th Annual Youth Parliament. This achievement underscores the high level of talent and commitment among the participants.
The final debate will be accessible to a wide audience, with a live stream available via the Parliament’s Website, Facebook, and YouTube pages. Additionally, viewers can watch the event on Globespan and Guyana TV. For those who cannot tune in live, the debate will be re-broadcast on NCN at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
We encourage everyone to join us in supporting these young debaters as they showcase their skills and engage in meaningful discourse about Guyana’s future.
