U.N.D.P.’s Resident Representative’s Second Courtesy call on Speaker of the National Assembly of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana

In keeping with the promise of strengthening relations between the Parliament of Guyana and the United Nations Development Programme (U.N.D.P.), U.N.D.P. Resident Representative to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Mr. Jairo Valverde Bermudez, on Tuesday, 24th November, 2020, made a second visit to the Hon. Manzoor Nadir, M.P., Speaker of the National Assembly.
The follow-up meeting, in which Mr. Valverde Bermudez made a presentation to Hon. Speaker Nadir, was a direct result of the courtesy call paid on the Hon. Speaker on the 14th October, 2020.
Mr. Valverde Bermudez, during his presentation, highlighted the need for civic education and the relationship between civic education and social cohesion. He emphasised that access to information for the citizenry will assist in their understanding of the work of institutions such as Parliament and promote social cohesion.
They met in the Speaker’s Chamber at the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown.
Parliamentary Executive Officer at the Parliament Office, Ms. Carlleta Charles, was also present during the visit.
