Guyana and Suriname National Assemblies sign agreement cementing partnership

The Speakers of the National Assemblies of Guyana and Suriname, today signed the "Agreement between the National Assembly of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and the National Assembly of the Republic of Suriname" at the Parliament of Suriname. Present at the signing were Minister of Citizenship, Hon. Winston Felix MP, Mr. Adrian Annamaya, MP, Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Sherlock Isaacs, Members of the Suriname Parliament, and staff of both Assemblies.
A delegation headed by Speaker Scotland had in October 2015 visited the Suriname Parliament to persue discussions regarding the two Assemblies entering a partnership agreement. Members of both Assemblies agreed on a Contact Plan/Agreement which would see the partnership focusing on several areas including, Trafficking in Persons (TIP), Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS), and improving the working of both Assemblies
Guyana's National Assembly on its August 8th Sitting had passed a Resolution cementing the partnership between the two Parliaments.
