Parliament of Guyana participates in CPA UK 2020 Westminster Seminar

The Parliament of Guyana, this week, from 23rd – 27th November, 2020, is participating in a Westminster Seminar organised by the United Kingdom (UK) Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
Representatives of the Parliament of Guyana are Hon. Manzoor Nadir, MP, Speaker of the National Assembly; Hon. Vickram Bharrat, MP, Minister of Natural Resources; Hon. Dr. Vindhya Persaud, MP, Minister of Human Services and Social Security; Hon. Kwame McCoy, MP, Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister; Hon. Alister Charlie, MP; Hon. Natasha Singh-Lewis, MP; Hon. Devin Sears, MP; Hon. Shurwayne Holder, MP; Ms. Carlleta Charles, Parliamentary Executive Officer; Ms. Anessa Burke, Assistant Clerk of Committees; and Ms. Jessica Small, Assistant Clerk of Committees.
The Seminar, which is held annually, is being held virtually for the first time under the theme Preparing Parliamentarians for a Changing World.
The Seminar is a development programme in its 69th year. It allows for the sharing of knowledge and experiences among Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff and focusses on many areas of parliamentary engagements, including effective Parliaments and the responsibilities of Presiding Officers, Members and Clerks; the impact of COVID-19 on Parliaments; leadership and communication skills; pressures on Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff; public engagement; national security scrutiny; committee systems across the Commonwealth; and conducting an inquiry.
