Liliendaal, Georgetown – February 5, 2025: The National Assembly of Guyana has officially approved the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the Fiscal Year 2025 during the 100th Sitting of the Twelfth Parliament. The Sitting occurred today, February 5, 2025, at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) in Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.
The approval marks a significant milestone in the budgetary process, as the House allocated line items for key government agencies, ensuring the continuation of critical programs and initiatives. The approved expenditures include both Current and Capital Expenditures, which will now form part of the official Estimates for the Fiscal Year 2025.
Key ministries that received allocations during the Sitting include:
- Ministry of Health
- Ministry of Home Affairs
- Ministry of Public Service
- Ministry of Finance
The approval process culminated at 7:47 p.m., when the Honourable Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark A. Phillips, M.S.S., M.P., Prime Minister of Guyana, moved the Motion for the adjournment of the Sitting. The next Sitting will be held on a date to be announced.
The 2025 Budget process spanned five days of detailed presentations and four days of rigorous consideration of the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure.
