Georgetown, Guyana, August 14, 2024 – On the third day of the 9th Annual Youth Parliament, Youth Parliamentarians gathered in the Parliament Chamber at the Public Buildings, Brickdam, Georgetown, for a day of grand rehearsals. This significant event marked a key step in the preparation for the upcoming Sittings.
The morning session was dedicated to the junior Youth Parliamentarians, who participated in a comprehensive rehearsal. The session began with introductions and familiarisation with the protocols of a Sitting.
In the afternoon, the senior Youth Parliamentarians engaged in a detailed walk-through of a Sitting's procedures. They received guidance and had their queries addressed by Members of the Parliament Office staff and the Planning Committee for the Annual Youth Parliament. The interaction aimed to ensure that the young leaders were well-prepared for the formal proceedings.
During the course of the day, current Members of Parliament, from both the Government and Opposition benches, interacted with the young participants, offering invaluable advice and words of wisdom to guide them through the parliamentary process.
To conclude the day’s activities, the Youth Parliamentarians were treated to a movie night in the MP’s Lounge. This provided a well-deserved moment of relaxation before they returned to their hotels to rest and prepare for tomorrow’s highly anticipated Sittings.
The 9th Annual Youth Parliament continues to provide a platform for young leaders to engage with the parliamentary process, honing their skills in leadership, public speaking, and legislative procedures. Tomorrow’s Sittings promises to showcase the hard work and dedication of these future leaders.
