Ahead of the official commencement of the 144th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly, the Guyana Delegation headed by the Hon. Speaker Nadir made their first mark at the meeting of the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC) Geopolitical Group.
Speaker Nadir, in his remarks to the grouping, called for more intentional action to be taken in incorporating more of Guyana’s sister CARICOM nations into membership. Further, Nadir posited that, like Guyana, other CARICOM member States have much to offer and learn from the geopolitical groups, and would be willing to take the charge once that resolution is made.
A delegation from the Parliament of Guyana will be participating in the 144th Assembly of the IPU in Nusa Dua, Indonesia, from March 20-24, 2022, under the theme, Getting to Zero: Mobilizing Parliaments to act on climate change.
