Stewartville New Horizon Pathfinder & Master Guide, Nyah Foundation, and the Cumming Lodge Youth Movement Youth Groups victorious on day 6 of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023

The Stewartville New Horizon Pathfinder & Master Guide Youth Group of Region 3 today defeated the Leguan Progressive Youth Organsation Youth Group in round two, match one, during the first match for the morning session of the Speaker’s Regional Youth Debating Competition 2023.
The Best Debater for this matchup was Ms. Reisa Roberts of the Stewartville New Horizon Pathfinder & Master Guide Youth Group and the moot for this debate was, “Our education system indoctrinates not educates."
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the Proposition, the Leguan Progressive Youth Organsation Youth Group, 180 points (Average), and 196.3 points (Average) for the Opposing side, the Stewartville New Horizon Pathfinder & Master Guide Youth Group.
The 11 a.m. session saw a thrilling matchup between the Nyah Foundation Youth Group and the Lusignan Young Professionals Youth Group. After the dust settled, the Nyah Foundation Youth Group of Region 4 proved to be the better team in the Round 1, Match 3 debate.
The moot for this debate was, “The 40-hour work week is ludicrous.”
The Best Debater for this match was Mr. Emanuel Assanah of the Nyah Foundation Youth Group.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the proposition, the Nyah Foundation Youth Group, 203.6 points (Average), and 183.6 points (Average) for the opposing side, the Lusignan Young Professionals Youth Group.
During the afternoon session, the opposing side, the Cumming Lodge Youth Movement Youth Group defeated the proposing Rotaract Club, University of Guyana Youth Group in the Region 4, match 4 debate.
Ms. Marrissa Doobay won the Best Debater award for that matchup.
The combined scores for the judges were as follows: for the proposition, the Rotaract Club, University of Guyana Youth Group, 144 points (Average), and 177 points (Average) for the opposing side, the Cumming Lodge Youth Movement Youth Group.
The weekly debates are scheduled for Tuesday and Friday and will be streamed live on the Parliament of Guyana’s Web, Facebook, and YouTube pages.
