Chinese Ambassador to Guyana bids farewell to the Speaker

Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Mr. Zhang Jungao paid a courtesy call to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Raphael Trotman, today, to bid farewell as the Ambassador is entering retirement.
The Speaker thanked Mr. Jungao for his representation of his country while he was stationed in Guyana and expressed best wishes on his return home. Speaker Trotman also told the Ambassador that he hopes the relations between Guyana and china remain strong. Mr. Trotman further expressed his hope that the upcoming Communist Party Congress, to be held in Beijing, China, is a success.
Mr. Trotman presented a token of appreciation to the Ambassador on behalf of the National Assembly and the people of Guyana.
Mr. Zhang Jungao took up the post of Ambassador to Guyana in August of 2010. Since then, bilateral relations between the two countries have grown tremendously. He has piloted several important projects aimed at the social and economic development of Guyana. In addition cultural exchange between Guyana and China has grown under him and there has been a significant increase in the number of Guyanese students who study in china.
China and Guyana established diplomatic relations on 27 June 1972. Guyana is the first English-speaking Caribbean country to forge diplomatic ties with China and to set up its embassy in China. Despite the great distance between China and Guyana, the two peoples have had friendly ties throughout the years.
